Press Club starts selling milk, eggs, meat at affordable prices for journalists

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has started selling milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices from the first Ramadan across the country, including the capital.
On Saturday morning, March 8, a program to sell milk, eggs, meat at affordable prices for National Press Club members has begun at the Press Club premises.
Nilufa Akhter, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, inaugurated the program for members of the National Press Club, the apex organization of journalists. Director General of the Department of Livestock Dr. Md. Abu Sufian, President of the National Press Club Hasan Hafiz were present at the time.
Nilufa Akhter, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, said, “The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has undertaken this program to increase the supply of protein-based food products at affordable prices among the people of the country. There is a great interest among women across the country in purchasing these products. She believes that through this program, it has been possible to keep the prices of products in the market at a tolerable level.”
Director General of the Department of Livestock, Dr. Md. Abu Sufian said, this program is being conducted all over the country. This program is being conducted at 25 spots every day in the capital. In addition, products have been sold at about a thousand spots outside Dhaka. As of Friday, a total of about 6 crore taka worth of eggs, milk, dressed broiler, beef, and pork have been sold in various parts of the country including the capital. As of the 7th, about 52,453 buyers in the capital have purchased these products. Of these, 27,308 were female buyers. 25,145 were male buyers. As a result, there are more female buyers in the capital than men. On the other hand, one-third of the total buyers outside Dhaka are women. As a result, this government initiative has received a good response among women.
Thanking Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhtar for starting this program for journalists, National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz said, “The more such humanitarian programs can be expanded, the more the people of the country will benefit. The kind of crisis of protein products that occurs during the month of Ramadan has not happened this time. This is part of the well-thought-out plan of the interim government.”
It is worth noting that through the affordable sale program, dressed broiler meat is being sold at 250 taka per kilogram, pasteurized milk at 80 taka per liter, 114 taka per dozen eggs and 650 taka per kilogram of beef. This program was inaugurated on February 28 by Farida Akhtar, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, on the occasion of Ramadan. The program is being supported by the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP) of the Department of Livestock, Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC), Bangladesh Dairy and Fattening Farmers Association (BDFFA), dairy processing companies, other stakeholders and marginal farmers.
