President Md. Sahabuddin directed all officers and employees of Bangabhavan to ensure impartiality, transparency and accountability at every level of performance of duties. The President issued this directive while exchanging greetings with all the military and civil officers and employees of the Bangabhaban at the Durbar Hall today afternoon. He said, neutrality, transparency and accountability must be ensured at every level of responsibility. Apart from maintaining the reputation of Bangabhaban, we have to think about how to increase it. President Sahabuddin hopes that every officer-employee of Bangabhaban will fulfill their duties with devotion, honesty and sincerity and strive to shine the image of Bangabhaban. He said, “So every activity of you (Bangabhaban officials-employees) should be such that people can gain trust and confidence in you.” Md. Sahabuddin said, there is no alternative to honesty and justice-based, knowledge-based and enlightened public administration in establishing good governance. “You shall be governed by the laws, regulations and public interest of the Government. Remember all laws are made for the welfare of the people,’ added the President. Mentioning Bangabhaban as a monument of country’s history and tradition, he said that the talent, hard work and sincerity of every employee working in Bangabhaban is mixed with it. The President expects that the officers and employees of Banga Bhavan, though they are employees of the Republic, will make continuous efforts for the development and progress of the country as well as government work as a citizen. The Head of State said that Bangabandhu’s dream of establishing a hunger and poverty free Sonar Bangla is on its way to be realized today under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “Bangladesh has already joined the ranks of developing countries from least developed countries,” he noted. The President also urged everyone to play an active role from their respective positions to continue this trend of ongoing development of the country. The Head of State said that all officials and employees should take care to ensure that the people can get their expected services easily and smoothly. President Sahabuddin said, “You have to remember that you are the servant of the people, not the master.” Referring to the infernal murder of August 15, 1975, he said, “The history of Bangabhaban is not only that of arrogance and pride, but the murderous gang executed the conspiracy to kill Bangabandhu and his family sitting in this Bangabhaban.” President Sahabuddin said that some traitors have also helped them. History has not forgiven them. They have been relegated to the dustbin of history. He said that the assassins thought that by killing Bangabandhu they would wipe out his principles and ideals from the soil and people of Bengal but they could not do that. Hero freedom fighter Sahabuddin said, Bangabandhu today is the source of inspiration not only for Bangladeshis but also for the freedom-seeking people of the whole world. At the beginning of his speech, the President paid tribute to the greatest Bengali father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and all the martyred members of the Bangabandhu family, brave freedom fighters, four national leaders and those who sacrificed their lives at the time of fatigue of the nation. Md. Sahabuddin expressed his gratitude and thanks to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and all the members of Parliament who voted for him as President. He urged everyone to work unitedly to build Bangabandhu’s hunger and poverty free Sonar Bangla and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
