Dhaka Club, a prestigious institution situated in Shahbagh, has long been the cradle for many elite sports in Bangladesh such as futsal, tennis, billiards, and snooker. Continuing this tradition, the club has once again organized a snooker tournament. The “Dhaka Club President Cup Snooker” tournament kicked off on Saturday with the participation of 43 players from ten clubs.

The tournament offers a total prize pool of approximately two lakh taka. The event was inaugurated by the club president, Ashraful Zaman Khan (Puton), in the presence of Club Director Abdur Rahman, Tournament Director Ibrahim Kazu, and others.

This eight-day event will distribute the prize money as follows: the champion will receive one lakh taka, the runner-up fifty thousand, the third-place winner fifteen thousand, the fourth-place winner ten thousand, and the best player of the tournament will be awarded twenty thousand taka.

Tournament Director Ibrahim Kazu noted, “Although the competition is open, no female players are participating.”
Club President Ashraful Zaman added, “We previously hosted the South Asian International Snooker tournament. We are also planning another grand event soon — a celebratory reception for the country’s top sports stars. It will be a matter of pride for us and an honor for the athletes.”

The final match of the tournament is scheduled for May 3.
