The administration held a preparatory meeting in Debhata to deal with Cyclone Dana. The meeting was held on an emergency basis at the Upazila Executive Officer’s office on Wednesday (October 23) afternoon organized by the Upazila Disaster Management Committee. The meeting was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Asaduzzaman and under the direction of Upazila Project Implementation Officer, Upazila Public Health Engineer Sanjay Mondal, Debhata Press Club President Mir Khairul Alam, Reportus Club President RK Bappa, Debhata College Assistant Professor Yasin Ali, Debhata Fire Service Leader Kalim Hossain and others spoke.
Meanwhile, 15 cyclone shelters in Debhata and all educational institutions are being prepared for people to take shelter to deal with the cyclone. Also the control room has been opened. Various preparations have been made including miking, rescue teams, stocking of dry food in markets. Besides, various institutions including rural electricity, police, fire service have been instructed to take necessary measures. If there are electric poles, torn wires lying anywhere, do not touch them and inform the authorities immediately.


According to the information of the Meteorological Department, the cyclone may pass through West Bengal and Orissa in India. It is expected to be a severe cyclone though not very strong. As the tip of the cyclone wing is likely to cross the Indian subcontinent, its impact on Bangladesh may be less. But if it hits, it can go over the sub-tropical region of Bangladesh. The cyclone will make landfall over West Bengal or Orissa in India. However, even when approaching, the course may change at times. But Khulna and Barisal may have more impact. However, it is also reported that its power will be understood on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
