The police recovered the hanging body of a widow named Piara Begum in Bauphal of Patuakhali. The body was recovered from his house in Uttar Shoula village of Kalaia Union of the upazila on Tuesday morning. Deceased Piara Begum (55) is the daughter of deceased Hasem Matubbar of Matubbar house in that village.
According to sources, Piara Begum lived alone in her father’s house since her husband died a few years ago. His two sons and one daughter all live in separate places with their families. On Tuesday morning, when the neighbors did not respond to her calls, they saw the body of Piara Begum hanging inside the door of the house and informed the police. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered the body of the woman.
Bauphal police station OC Kamal Hossain said that Piara Begum’s body was sent to Patuakhali Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem after recovery. After getting the post mortem report, it will be known whether it is murder or suicide.
