Pilgrimage of Bishop of Bangladesh Bishops’ Conference and Secretary of Vatican Embassy to Rajshahi Diocese

Yusuf Chowdhury-Rajshahi: I am very happy with the arrival of the bishops of all dioceses of Bangladesh and the newly appointed secretary of the Vatican Diocese. Rajshahi Diocese is blessed today. Bishop of Bangladesh Bishops’ Conference and Secretary of the Vatican Diocese in Bangladesh, Monsignor Abel Taglor, visited Rajshahi Diocese as part of the pilgrimage on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, Bishop Zervas Rosario said this. The bishops and the newly appointed secretary of the Vatican Diocese in Bangladesh visited various religious villages in Joypurhat and Naogaon districts of Rajshahi Diocese from March 7 to 9 and the construction site of the new diocese building in Joypurhat. The three-day Jubilee pilgrimage began on the evening of March 7 with the arrival at the Rajshahi Bishop’s House. On March 8, the first was the visit to Laxmikol Dharmapalli. Everyone was welcomed with a dance and song ceremony. Archbishop Vijay N. D’Cruz of Dhaka Mahadharma Pradesh expressed his feelings and said, “We bishops are very happy with the sincerity of the priest Father Emil Ekka. May the people come to know Jesus through your work.” After visiting Laxmikol Dharmapalli, the bishops went to inspect the site for the construction of the new Dharmapalli near Khanjanpur Dharmapalli, located on the outskirts of Joypurhat district. There, the bishops, fathers and others participated in prayers under the leadership of Archbishop Vijay N. D’Cruz. After that, the bishops were welcomed with a Mahali ceremony at Khanjanpur Dharmapalli. On the way to Chandpukur Dharmapalli, the fathers, sisters and people of the Dharmapalli greeted us in Santali culture at the traditional Benidua Dharmapalli of Rajshahi Dharmapalli. At Chandpukur Dharmapalli, floral greetings were also given through the Santali Dasai dance. Pal priest Father Bablu Kodaiya presented the history of the Dharmapalli in his welcome speech. Finally, the pilgrimage ended with a visit to Katadanga and Bhutahara Dharmapalli. Paul Ponnen Kubi, Bishop of Mymensingh Dharmapalli and Secretary of Bangladesh Bishops’ Conference, expressed his feelings and said, I sincerely thank Bishop Jervas Rosario for organizing this pilgrimage for us. It was a privilege to visit the Dharmapalli located in Naogaon and Joypurhat districts under his guidance. And truly, it was a unique gift from God. May God’s blessings descend on Rajshahi Dharmapalli. Monsignor Abel Taglo, Secretary of the Vatican Embassy in Bangladesh, said, “I am very happy to be coming to the Rajshahi diocese. This is my first visit to Bangladesh outside of Dhaka. Through this pilgrimage, I have seen the reality and struggle of the lives of Christians. Besides, I will never travel like this with all the bishops of Bangladesh; so I am truly lucky.”
