With the aim of establishing non-violent peace rather than conflict and violence, the Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) Laxam Unit, formed under the MIPS project of The Hunger Project Bangladesh, held a joint program progress review and planning meeting at a local restaurant on October 7.
PFG Laxam Unit Ambassador Bikash Chandra Sahar presided over and coordinator Zafar Ahmed spoke in the meeting, PFG Laxam Unit Ambassador Md. Sirajul Haque, Nazmunnahar Nupur, Nur Alam Manik, Member and Municipal BNP Member Secretary Abul Hossain Milan, Mir Abu Bakkar Siddique, Journalist Md. Kamal Uddin, Aurangzeb Khan Rubel, Md. Ahsan Habib, Journalist Salim Chowdhury Hira, Nazneen Akhtar Neepa, Yunus Mia, Mamunur Rashid, Youth Group Coordinator Nurunnabi Mohsin, Regional Field Coordinator of The Hunger Project Bangladesh Khodeja Begum etc.
At the beginning of the meeting, a minute’s silence was observed for the soul of the late father of Youth Group Coordinator Nurunnabi Mohsin. Later, various issues including inter-faith dialogue, peace events, training of youth groups, increase of political honorary members in PFG were discussed in detail.
At the last stage of the meeting, a decision was taken to hold an inter-religious dialogue on October 22 and a peace event meeting on November 2 at the initiative of PFG.
Members Arifur Rahman Swapan, Ratan Lal Saha, Taslima Akhter, Shahidul Islam and others of PFG Laxam unit were also present.
