For the past few days, some other districts including Lakshmipur district have started receiving continuous rain. As a result of which rain water is seen accumulating in Raipur, Ramganj, Ramgati, Kamalnagar, Chandraganj and Lakshmipur. The water tide of Meghna river has appeared due to abnormal tide. Around 80 km coastal area of Lakshmipur has started flooding 60 villages. Millions of people are trapped in water. More than 17 thousand hectares of cropland are under threat. On the afternoon of Wednesday 22 August, it was seen on the ground that the tidal water of the Meghna entered and the common people were trapped in the area around 8 kilometers from the dam of the river. Due to the abnormal tide, canals connected to the river, ponds, residential houses, educational institutions and religious institutions along with the roads have been submerged in water. This has made the life of these people of Meghna coastal area extremely disastrous. Meanwhile, in Laxmipur upazila, fish worth half a million rupees have been washed away from the drains of some reservoirs and ponds. gone In Laxmipur and Raipur, including Charramani No. 20 of Pallikhet upazila, at least 3,000 paan barge water is entering and the paan barge is getting damaged. The drinkers are also in fear of a huge amount of loss. However, due to the lack of embankment, the entire area has been submerged in tidal water. The road was broken by the strong flow of water. Locals of that area have to spend the night in some kind of fear by sleeping on cots inside the house. In this regard, Farooq Ahmed, Executive Engineer of Laxmipur Town of Water Development Board, said that proposals have been sent to the higher authorities for the construction and renovation of new dams. After approval, work will be started. Due to natural calamities and abnormal tides of the Meghna, several unpaved, semi-paved houses and roads along with extensive damage to crops have been damaged. He also said that work is ongoing to provide assistance to the victims. In 1976, 37 km embankment was given in part of Ramgati, Kamalnagar, Raipur, Ramganj, Chandraganj and Lakshmipur Sadar for flood control and water drainage. Later, due to continuous erosion of Meghna and Cyclone Ila, about 40 km of the dam disappeared into the river. Since then, the unusual tidal water has accumulated in the rain and drowned the houses, damaged the roads, market, cropland and other areas. A similar situation has occurred in the 15 wards of Lakshmipur municipality. From Wednesday morning, the residents of the municipality were walking around in wards 1 to 15 of the municipality. When asked to know the reason for the accumulation of water, Kabir Hossain, Pahad, Shahadat Hossain, and the residents of ward No. 4 of the municipality, Emran Hossain and many others told Dainik Lakshmipur that we have been suffering from water shortage for a long time, due to some influential Awami League party leaders, the rain water is not coming out of the house and now it is like flood water. He also said that these are the leaders of Awami League’s quota political party. They have been sucking and eating human blood for so long, now they have finished eating and have fled the country. Apart from that, in all the places through which the water will be drained, there are shops, if you look for them, you will find the illegal business establishments of anonymous looting business in the name of dishonest Awami League party leaders. As a result of which we are water-bound common people today. However, their claim is that if water drainage is not done, there is a fear of people drowning due to water-logging. They have no sleep for 24 hours day and night because of the fear of snakes. It is seen that many people have drowned in the courtyard of every house and the water has reached the door of the house. Some people see flood water entering their house.
