Begum Rokeya University Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held a peaceful assembly and march to demand fair trial for the killing of Abu Saeed and other martyrs and to fulfill all the demands raised by the students.
On Friday (August 2nd) at 11 am, students of various schools and colleges, including the students of Berobi, parents and general teachers of the university expressed their solidarity in a peaceful assembly and march at Shaheed Abu Saeed Square.
The students said in the meeting, why were our students killed? What crime did they commit? It was a crime that they were just asking for their rights. Now we have no security. We want the safety of all students. We will not leave the streets until our demands are met. The movement will continue until our demands are met.
Expressing solidarity, the teachers said, they demand punishment of all the students who were killed in the anti-discrimination student movement, including Abu Saeed, through a fair investigation. We don’t want to see any more killings. The government should take all measures to bring back the education environment by quickly accepting the demands raised by the students. Otherwise the government will have to take responsibility for any situation. We teachers have always been with the students, are and will be in the future.
Parents said, our sons and daughters have come to the field to get their just demands. Many have been martyred, many are injured and are crying in hospitals and homes. All boys and girls spend their days in fear. Police are going door to door for boys and girls. Our backs are against the wall. We can no longer stay at home as parents. Therefore, we also stand by the students’ logical movement.
