Special Correspondent: Senior Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Md. Ehsanul Haque said, our efforts will continue to make this year’s Eid journey comfortable and safe.

To prevent the suffering of passengers in public transport, Senior Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Md. Ehsanul Haque visited the Sayedabad and Gabtoli bus terminals in Dhaka city on Saturday (March 29) morning. He made these comments while exchanging views with journalists at that time.

The Senior Secretary also said, we have taken this challenge by sitting with the officials of the Road Transport and Highways Department, BRT officers, police, and leaders of the workers-owners’ association. There will be no extortion of any kind in this year’s Eid journey, no additional fare will be collected, no robbery-theft-robbery will take place, and there will be no nuisance of malam parties. Above all, people will return home peacefully and without any hindrance and we will continue to work for the safety of passengers while returning.

In response to a question regarding the collection of additional fares, the Road Secretary said that booths have been set up by BRTA at every bus terminal. In addition, the police and RAB teams are on alert round the clock. He said that immediate action is being taken as soon as complaints are received to resolve all the problems of passengers, including the collection of additional fares.

Finally, he sought everyone’s cooperation to make this Eid journey comfortable and safe and concluded his speech by wishing everyone a happy Eid.

BRTA Chairman (Grade-1) Md. Yasin, senior police officials, leaders of the Bus Owners Association, leaders of the Workers Federation and media representatives were present during the inspection.
