The office of Dainik Barura Kantha, the mouthpiece of Barura in Comilla, was inaugurated and a discussion meeting was held.
On Sunday, January 12 at 11 am, the office of Dainik Barura Kantha was inaugurated and a discussion meeting was held at Khorshed Alam’s building on Thana Road. The event was presided over by the president of the newspaper’s editorial board and president of the Barura Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee, Principal (Retd) Md. Shah Alam. Former Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Monindra Kishore Majumder, was present as the chief guest.
Former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Humayun Kabir, Assistant Professor of Jhalom High School and College and Journalist Mohammad Masud Majumder, Barura Upazila Correspondent of Daily Jayjaydin, AB Bank PLC’s (AVP) Assistant Vice President and AB Bank Barura Branch Manager Md. Moslem Uddin Ahmed, Barura Police Station Officer-in-Charge’s representative SI Maksud Hasan, Barura Upazila Janakalyan Samity Life Member and Social Worker Gazi Wahidul Islam, and Barura Model High School’s Headmaster Md. Monir Hossain were present as special guests.
The welcome speech was moderated by the special correspondent of the Daily Barura Kanth, journalist Md. Sharif Uddin, and the editor and publisher of the Daily Barura Kanth, Mosa Taslima Akhter, delivered the welcome speech. The newspaper’s news editor, journalist Rota: Saiful Islam, assistant editor Rota: Fayezul Islam Palash, correspondent of the Daily Bhorer Dak, Rota: Omar Faruk, Uttar Barura Bureau Chief journalist Monirul Islam, journalist Md. Khorshed Alam, and president of the Manab Seba Social Organization, Kazi Momin Ullah Bhuiyan, also spoke at the time.
Among others present at the event were journalist Md. Ikramul Haque, Barura Upazila correspondent of Daily Manab Zamin and Titular, journalist Md. Jahangir Alam, correspondent of Daily Ruposhi Bangla, editor of Khoshbas Barta Md. Yunus Khan, coordinator of the anti-discrimination movement Tuhin Ahmed Prajonmo, correspondent of Daily Barura Kanth Abu Yusuf Rabet, fellow journalists and civil society leaders.
During this time, the guests remembered the late journalist Md. Yusuf Ali, the founding editor and publisher of the Daily Barura Kanth. In their speech, the guests said that journalist Md. Yusuf Ali was a wise man. He fought against injustice all his life, never compromised with any evil force, and always devoted himself to the welfare of the people. On every founding anniversary of the newspaper, he would go around the entire Barura in search of talented and enlightened people, publish illustrated reports in the newspaper on the improvement of the quality of education and achievements of students of every educational institution, and always speak for the country, the soil, and the people. Numerous journalists trained by him are working in the house of national newspapers starting from Trinamul. Everyone believes that Barura Kanth will survive as an objective news medium as a tradition of Barura Upazila. At the end of the program, the office of the Daily Barura Kanth was inaugurated with cake cutting.
