At this time, he said, “You know that I have been serving as the Vice Chancellor of Noakhali University of Science and Technology since September 5. At that time, there was a turbulent situation prevailing throughout the country and the first challenge was to bring the universities back to normal.” As you know, immediately after taking charge, we were the first to start classes in our university among higher education institutions and examinations started from September 10. After I joined, I tried to take the health, education and safety of the students with utmost importance along with all the colleagues who were administrators during the interim period. Since the students have been through trauma for a long time, we tried to overcome their mental health from the traumatized state by organizing various workshops and training. In response to the questions of the journalists, he said, we have tried very quickly to ensure that the services of doctors are available 24 hours a day in our medical center. Currently, the necessary medicines are provided from the medical center. In addition, first aid boxes and nebulizers have been arranged in each residential hall after appropriate training. He said with great joy that in addition to doctor’s prescriptions, students will be able to get basic medical tests done at the university medical center from next month. Not only students, but also the local people of this region will be covered by this service.
He further said that the proctorial body is working for the students who have been subjected to harassment. Financial assistance has been provided to two seriously injured students. The number of BRTC buses has been increased to resolve the transport crisis. I hope that the road adjacent to the university will be four-lane in the next fiscal year. At this time, he said emotionally, although Academic Building-3 was once called the sorrow of this university, I am trying to alleviate that sorrow. A project worth Tk 342 crore is in the process of being passed by the planning committee of Ecnec. We have taken up another project worth Tk 44.2 crore in UGC through the master plan to develop this university as a center of excellence.
