PT Desk: A press conference of Notundhara Bangladesh NDB has been held on the proposal to build an agriculture-friendly Bangladesh. Notundhara Chairman Momin Mehedi read out a written statement at the press conference held on April 25 at the Bijoy Auditorium on Topkhana Road. At the time, he said that since independence, for the past 54 years, the government that came to power has been nurturing the border crisis at all levels including education, agriculture, industry, and trade. And for this reason, as in the past, farmers have committed suicide one after another due to not getting the right price for agricultural products. Along with this, an unstable situation has been created in most educational institutions focusing on expanding dominance, and there have been increasing incidents of killings, attacks, and smuggling at the border.

At the press conference, Notundhara Presidium Member Kazi Munni Alam, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farzana, Vice Chairman Dr. Nurjahan Nira, Joint Secretary General Monir Zaman, Advisor Gazi Mansur, Organizing Secretary Wazed Rana, members Al Amin Bairagi, Bithi Howlader, Shahidul Islam Prince, Md. Wayhan and others answered various questions from journalists. At that time, the leaders said that even before August 5, farmers committed suicide for not getting fair price, and they are still doing so after August 5. But we thought – this time at least farmers will smile with victory in agriculture-dependent Bangladesh, workers will get fair price for their labor, unemployed youth will get quality jobs and business opportunities to survive; students will be enlightened by the light of good education – Bangladesh will be built; the border will be secure. But instead of that, farmers are committing suicide for failing to repay loans. In a written statement on behalf of Notundhara, it was mentioned that the BSF killed 588 people on the Bangladesh-India border from 2009 to November 2024. During this time, 773 Bangladeshi citizens were injured. The highest number of killings on the border occurred in 2009. That year, 175 Bangladeshi citizens were killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). Of them, 98 were killed. And 77 were injured. Apart from this, 74 were killed in 2010, 31 in 2011, 38 in 2012, 29 in 2013, 35 in 2014, 44 in 2015, 29 in 2016, 25 in 2017, 11 in 2018, 41 in 2020, 51 in 2021, 17 in 2022, 18 in 2023, 28 in 2023 and 19 people were killed by the BSF until November 2024. In the last 3 months and 25 days of 2025, 9 more people were killed and over a hundred were injured. In such a situation, I think it is very necessary to arrange bilateral talks with India as per the international border law. If India does not agree, I think it should also be referred to the International Court of Justice. Bangladeshis as a nation are always deprived and oppressed. The Yunus government is failing to overcome this situation. Even their parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and relatives, along with the advisors, are breaking the records of the previous fascists and are excelling in corruption. In order to overcome this, I want them to take well-planned steps through policies to play a role in protecting agriculture, education and borders, and ensure economic freedom. Otherwise, the Yunus government will also go the same path that the fascists have gone, and then even the students will not be able to protect them.
