Nominations of 73 candidates in 11 constituencies in Comilla valid, 48 invalid

In the 12th National Assembly Elections, the selection of candidates for 11 constituencies in Comilla has been completed. Comilla Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Khandkar completed the verification of nomination papers of 11 seats starting from Sunday morning till Monday evening. Mushfiqur Rahman. A total of 121 candidates submitted nomination papers in 11 constituencies from Comilla-01 to Comilla-11. Among them, the nomination papers of 73 candidates, including three women candidates, have been declared valid. Nomination papers of 48 candidates have been cancelled. The three women candidates are Selima Ahmed Meri, the current Member of Parliament for Comilla-01 Homna-Meghna Constituency and Anjum Sultana Seema, the current reserved Woman Member of Parliament for Comilla-06 Sadar Constituency, and Mrs. Jonaki Humayun submitted her nomination for Comilla- Nangalkot South Constituency. He will be elected with Comilla South District Awami League President and Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Jatiya Party’s plow symbol. The nomination papers of 121 candidates for 11 constituencies of the district were scrutinized in the conference room of the District Commissioner’s office on Sunday and Monday.

There are 13 valid candidates in Comilla-4 constituency, one candidate’s nomination paper has been cancelled. In Comilla-5 constituencies, 6 candidates are valid, 5 candidates are cancelled. In Comilla-6 constituencies, 5 candidates have got their nomination papers validated, 1 candidate has been cancelled. In Comilla-7 constituencies, the nomination papers of 6 candidates have been validated and 4 candidates have been rejected. In Comilla-8 constituencies, 11 people’s nomination papers have been validated, 4 people’s nomination papers have been cancelled. In Comilla-9 seats, the nomination papers of 6 persons have been validated, the nomination papers of 3 persons have been declared invalid. In Comilla-10 constituencies, the nomination papers of 3 persons have been validated, the nominations of 4 persons have been cancelled. Comilla – In 11 constituencies, 5 people have been declared valid, 6 people’s nomination papers have been cancelled.
The notable candidates who are on the list of cancellation of nominations in various constituencies of Comilla are Muntakim Ashraf Titu, son of Upazila Awami League President and former Deputy Speaker Prof. Ali Ashraf, who filed nomination as an independent candidate in Comilla-07 Chandina Constituency. He filed nomination papers as an independent candidate against Prof. Pran Gopal Dutta, a candidate for the boat symbol. On Monday, it was announced that his nomination was canceled due to several reasons including concealment of information. The nomination of Comilla South District Awami League Joint General Secretary Sajjad Hossain and former Comilla North District Awami League General Secretary and former Upazila Chairman Alhaj Jahangir Alam Sarkar was canceled in Sunday’s scrutiny. He filed nomination papers as an independent candidate against incumbent Member of Parliament Alhaj Yusuf Abdullah Haroon’s boat symbol in Comilla-03 Muradnagar constituency. The nomination of Barrister Naeem Hasan, who filed his nomination as an independent candidate against Engineer Abdus Sabur, candidate of boat symbol in Comilla-02 seat, has been cancelled.
However, the current chairman of Muradnagar Upazila Parishad, the son of Alhajj Jahangir Alam Sarkar, former general secretary of Comilla North District Awami League and former upazila chairman, whose nomination was cancelled. Ahsanul Alam Sarkar Kishore and their lawyer Advocate Syed Tanveer Ahmed Faisal, Jahangir Sarkar Group Leader Bangra East Union Parishad Chairman Sheikh Zakir Hossain along with suspended candidates and their activist supporters said that they will approach the court to get their nominations back.
