No alternative to holding early parliamentary elections to restore democracy: Mujibur Rahman Sarwar

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 3:00 PM, a huge public meeting was organized by the Pirojpur District Branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party at the Pirojpur Central Shaheed Minar premises to protest the rising prices of daily necessities and demand early parliamentary elections.

The public meeting was moderated by Pirojpur District BNP Member Secretary Gazi Wahiduzzaman Lavlu and chaired by Pirojpur District BNP President and BNP Central Executive Committee Member Principal Alamgir Hossain. Advocate Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, Advisor to the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, was present as the chief guest, and A.K.N. Quddusur Rahman, Barisal Divisional Co-Organizing Secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was present as the main speaker.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party Barisal Divisional Co-Organizing Secretary Mahabubul Haque Nannu, Bangladesh Nationalist Party Central Committee Co-Family Welfare Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Kabir Labu, Bangladesh Nationalist Party Central Committee Co-Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Kazi Rawnakul Islam Tipu were present as special guests.

In addition, leaders of various levels of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, organs and associate organizations Pirojpur District, Upazila and Municipal branches also spoke.

In his speech as president, Principal Alamgir Hossain said, “Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a party of the people. Our movement against this misrule and tyranny will continue. The suffering of the people is our suffering, their demands are our demands. We are peacefully creating a mass awakening against the government’s misrule. Until an acceptable national election is held, our movement will continue.”

In his speech as chief guest, Advocate Mujibur Rahman Sarwar said, “The country is in an extremely critical situation today. The prices of daily necessities are skyrocketing, people are living in hardship. However, the interim government is not taking any initiative to alleviate the suffering of the people. We protest against the misrule of this government and demand a free, fair and impartial national election soon. The people’s voting rights must be returned, democracy must be restored. BNP has always been, is and will be by the side of the people in the future.
