After a long wait, the Comilla Press Club elections were held. Today Sunday (July 28) polling starts from 12 noon. Voting lasted for three hours and ended at 3 pm. Ekatar Television’s own reporter Enamul Haque Farooq was elected president by getting 31 votes and daily Manav Zamin’s staff reporter Zahid Hasan was elected general secretary by getting 31 votes. Voting was held in a festive atmosphere throughout the day.
Election Commissioner Hasan Imam Mazumder Fatik announced the results after counting the votes.
In the election, 33 candidates were nominated for 17 posts against 57 votes. However, candidates for 2 posts have been elected unopposed. 31 people are contesting for the remaining 15 posts.
As a result, Comilla representative of Daily Bangladesh Avarvar Mohammad Nazrul Islam Dulal and Comilla representative of The Daily Hour Time Mahbub Alam Babu were elected as vice presidents. Daily Bhorer Suryoday staff reporter Bahar Raihan has been elected as co-general editor. Daily Ajker Comilla Editor Imtiaz Ahmed Jitu, GTV District Representative Salim Reza Munsi as Office Editor, Library Editor GM Jamal Uddin Damal, Science and Information Technology Affairs Editor Daily Comilla Alor Staff Reporter Nekbar Hossain, Literary Culture and Sports Affairs Editor have been elected. Comilla representative of Dainik Desh Parwanm Md. Delwar Hossain Zakir. Besides, five people have been elected as executive members, namely, Dilip Majumder, District Representative of Daily Kalbela, Mamshad Kabir, Staff Reporter of Daily Mainamati Patrika, Anwar Hossain, Comilla Representative of Baisakhi Television, Jasim Uddin Kanak, Editor of Daily Comilla Alor, Comilla Representative of Daily Samakal, Md. Kamal Uddin. , Finance Secretary Tauhid Hossain Mithu, Publicity and Publication Secretary N. was elected unopposed. Who is Ripon?
After announcing the results, the Chief Election Commissioner of the Press Club Elections Principal Hasan Imam Majumder said, ‘We are very happy to complete the elections properly. We are hopeful that those who are coming to the leadership will carry forward all the activities of the press club in the future.
Note that the last Comilla Press Club election was held in 2022. There was extra excitement around the election in the press club premises.
