Ashraful Alam alias Suryya alias Qutb, the only killer of uncle Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (55) has not been arrested by the police due to land dispute in Khulna. He went into hiding soon after the incident.
Meanwhile, aunt Pushpo Sheikh (50) and son Hafez Sheikh Miraj (22) are under treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital in a critical condition after being stabbed by their nephew.
Before this, the murder took place in Khanjahanpur village of Fultala upazila around 9:30 pm on Wednesday. The deceased Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the son of deceased Sheikh Atiyar Rahman of Khanjahanpur village. He was a farmer by profession.
Meanwhile, after the post mortem at Khulna Medical College Hospital on Thursday, the dead body was handed over to the family. However, a case has not yet been filed in this incident.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Fultala Police Station. Rafiqul Islam said that the preparation of the case is going on. However, the sole killer, Ashraful Alam alias Suryya alias Qutb, is yet to be arrested. He said that he is a drug addict and a vagabond. The OC also mentioned that efforts are being made to arrest the killer.
Residents and local Fultala Union Parishad chairman Abul Basar said that there has been a dispute with Sheikh Mujibur regarding the land tenure of his nephew Ashraful Alam alias Sheikh Qutub Uddin for a long time. As a result of the dispute, an argument started between them on Wednesday around 9:30 pm. At one point, Qutb Uddin angered uncle Mujibar with sharp hasua. At that time, Qutub Uddin Mujibar’s wife Pushpa Sheikh and son Hafez Sheikh Miraz were also cut and injured when they tried to stop him. Mujib’s right wrist was almost severed while trying to avoid the blow of the sharp Hasua. After this incident, the murderer’s nephew Qutub Uddin ran away, after which the neighbors rescued them and took them to Fultala Upazila Health Complex, where they declared Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the doctor on duty, dead. Mujibar’s wife Pushpa Sheikh and son Hafez Sheikh Miraj are under treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
