Sharifa Begum Sheuli: Advocate Ahsan Kabir Kamal, a resident of Kamal Kachna in Ward No. 25 of Rangpur City Corporation, and his uncle Rafiqul Islam Manju have been accused of occupying a road. The charges allege that Ahsan Kabir Kamal is trying to spread influence in the area by introducing himself as a leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) after the July coup.
Afia Khatun, the heir of the land donor, said that the road adjacent to the boundary of their neighbor Advocate Ahsan Kabir Kamal’s house was donated by his mother, the late Jahanara Begum, for the use of their heirs and the public. Advocate Ahsan Kabir Kamal and his uncle Manju cleverly occupied the road, which was once used by the public, by building a gate and locking it. To legitimize this illegal occupation by occupying the road, former Prime Minister Hasina, under the umbrella of the Awami League, hung signboards of freedom fighters, sometimes lawyers and most recently APP.
Afia Khatun further said that when the land grabber, including the heirs of the landowner, and neighbors and local residents who use the road protested, they were threatened with various types of threats and even harassed by filing false cases.
On the spot, it was found that on the morning of January 22, based on the complaint of the heir of the landowner, Afia Khatun, Rangpur City Corporation Surveyor Ripon Mia, Assistant Surveyor Md. Raku and the applicant’s own surveyor Salim went to measure the land and determine the boundaries in the presence of prominent people of the area. For a long time, the women of the house tried to obstruct the government work by various means, not allowing the City Corporation people to enter the house to measure the land. It is worth noting that even after giving advance notice from the Rangpur City Corporation, Advocate Ahsan Kabir Kamalgong was absent from the spot without giving any reason. At one stage, when the measurement was completed with the help of the prominent people of the area present, it was apparent to everyone present that the area occupied by the road completely belonged to the applicant.
At that time, prominent contractors Ansar Hossain and Yusuf Zaman Sumon said that local dignitaries, including neighbor Majnu Mia, were present.
In this regard, Advocate Ahsan Kabir Kamal said, “The complaint is baseless. If the complainant has anything to say, they can go to the civil court.”
