Since its inception, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been playing a leading role in bringing all types of criminals under the law to maintain the overall law and order situation of the country. RAB has been conducting regular operations to arrest militants, terrorists, organized criminals, robbers, drug dealers and fugitive accused in various cases including murder, kidnapping and rape. RAB has already been able to gain the public’s trust in crime control with the continuation of intelligence surveillance and raiding activities.
In continuation of this yesterday, on 02 July 2024 AD at approximately 14:25 PM, a raiding team of RAB-10 conducted an operation on the basis of secret information in Faria Garments Mor area under Fatulla Thana of Narayanganj district. In the said operation, Nagarkanda Police Station of Faridpur District, Case No-26, Date-23/06/2024 AD, Section 9(1)/30, 2000 Women and Child Torture Suppression Act Amendment 2003; Rape case accused absconding named Sohan Sheikh (37), father-Lia Sheikh, Sang-Algadia, Thana-Nagarkanda, District-Faridpur arrested.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested accused confessed to raping the said female victim. It is known that he was hiding in different areas of the country including Faridpur, Dhaka and Narayanganj to save himself from the law after the case was filed. The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station.
