Appreciating the decision of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the 12th National Parliament Elections in Comilla 08 Barura, the present Member of Parliament Nachimul Alam Chowdhury Nazrul has submitted an application to withdraw his candidature as an independent candidate.
It should be noted that Naschimul Alam Chowdhury Nazrul was elected as a member of parliament with a large vote in the 9th National Parliament Election (2008) and 11th National Parliament Election (2018). And former convenor of Barura Upazila Awami League and currently serving as President of Upazila Awami League.
Prominent industrialist Comilla South District Awami League Vice President and Chairman of South Bengal Agriculture and Commerce Bank Abu Zafar Mohammad Shafiuddin (Shamim) has been nominated as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in the 12th National Parliament Election.
On Sunday, December 17, Adra Union Awami League leader Md. Jahangir Alam applied to Comilla Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer to withdraw the nomination papers on behalf of current member of parliament Naschimul Alam Chaudhary Nazrul. According to Article 16 (1) of the Representation of the People Order 1972, he applied for withdrawal of candidature due to personal reasons.
