A housewife named Nupur (22) died mysteriously in Kalkini of Madaripur. However, his relatives claimed that he was tortured and killed. The police have detained two people including Ripon, the victim’s husband, for preliminary interrogation.
The incident took place in Char Thengamara area of Ward No. 2 of Kalkini Municipality on Friday (February 09) afternoon.
The deceased Nupur is the daughter of Md. Ripon Bepari of Char Thengamara village of Kalkini Municipality and wife of Rana Howladar of North Thengamara village.
Ripon Bepari, the father of the deceased housewife, said that he married his daughter to Ripon six years ago. They have a 4-year-old daughter. Nupur often said that her husband and in-laws beat her and threatened to kill her. From last 4th to 7th, Nupur was ill and admitted to the hospital. He was brought home last Wednesday when he recovered somewhat. Claiming that Nupur was killed due to the torture of the girl’s husband and his family, he wants a fair trial of the incident.
In this regard, Madaripur District Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Alaul Haque said that after receiving the information, the police recovered the body from the hospital and sent it to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The actual cause of death will be known when the post-mortem report is available.
