Moulvibazar court arrested for recording video of trial proceedings: released with fine

Mashahid Ahmed, Moulvibazar : A youth named Mamun Ahmed was arrested in connection with the video recording of court proceedings in the Judicial Magistrate, 2nd Court of Moulvibazar Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. Mamun- son of Dilu Mia of Dakshin village, Uttarakhlagaon, Rajnagar upazila. Later he was fined and released. According to court sources, on December 3 at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, while taking the testimony of a witness named Mehdi Hasan, his niece Mamun Ahmed videoed the proceedings of the court on her mobile phone. When brought to the notice of Mizbah Ur Rahman, the learned judge ordered the policeman assigned for security to arrest the said person and found the fact of videoing the proceedings of the court on the cell phone in the hand of the arrested person. Due to the said activities, obstruction of judicial proceedings and videoing of court proceedings on mobile phones without permission has shown deliberate contempt of court, therefore, the learned court held him guilty under Section 228 of the IPC, 1860 under Section 480 of the IPC, 1898. He was sentenced to 7 days without labor without paying a fine of 200 taka.
