Mofizul got speechless after losing 6 people

All the 6 people who went missing in the trawler sinking in the Meghna river in Ghazaria, Munshiganj are relatives of Mofizul Islam, who is working as a stenographer at the army headquarters. Although he managed to somehow return alive, his wife and two daughters disappeared. Narrating the tragic incident, Mofizul said, “When the trawler was sinking, I shouted ‘save me’ several times, but no one came forward. There were a few trawlers and people at the wharf but no one came. Those still missing are Mofizul Islam’s wife Sumna Akhtar (28), two daughters Safa (6), Mawa (4), niece Marwa (8), brother Sabbir Hossain (40) and his son Imad Hossain (2). At 11 o’clock on Saturday, Mofizul’s house in North Phuldi was seen with a bewildered whole family, the cries of the relatives are going on. A few people surrounded Mofizul by closing the door in a nearby room. A person who was with said that Mofizul has not been able to talk normally since the incident. He is shocked by the news that his wife and two daughters are missing. Mofizul said that after coming home on Thursday, they went to visit a house in Daulatpur village on Friday. At that time there were 11 people with him including his family members and other relatives. In the afternoon, after being invited, they set out on a trawler to travel on the Meghna River. Ghazaria was returning around 6:30 pm after roaming in Charkishoreganj area. He first alerted the trawler driver Rafiq Mia as numerous bulkheads were moving in this busy river. The trawler was coming from Char Kishoreganj to Ghazaria launch ghat when it was hit by a Narayanganj bound bulkhead. The bulkhead was mostly submerged due to the sand filling, and the trawler could not see it as there was no overhead light. The trawler driver saw the bulkhead and tried to move the trawler but failed. Before realizing anything, the trawler began to sink due to the impact of the bulkhead. At that time one of his daughters was near him and another daughter was a little far away. He asks his wife Sumana to stand up. Later, when he realized that the trawler was sinking, he shouted “Bachao Bachao” several times, but there were several trawlers and a few people in Charkishoreganj Ghat area near the spot, but no one came forward to help. When the trawler overturned and fell into the water, he went deep into the water, but swam to his death. After swimming for a long time, another trawler rescued him. Then he didn’t remember anything. After some time he saw him in Munshiganj Sadar Hospital. Ghazaria naval police outpost in charge. Ijaz Uddin Ahmed said, ‘We started the rescue operation from Saturday morning. At this time, the body of a person named Sumna Akhtar was recovered. Our search for the remaining missing persons continues. The trawler with 12 passengers including the driver sank on Friday evening. In this incident, 6 people were rescued alive, but 6 people including mother and 2 daughters were missing. The body of Mofizul’s wife Sumna was recovered on Saturday. Rescue operations are still underway to find the five missing people.
