In Patuakhali’s Baufal, boat supporters were reported to have been hacked and shot and injured. The injured are claiming that Baufal Upazila Chairman Abdul Motaleb Howlada’s son Baga U.P. Chairman Mahmud Hasan 20/22 took place with his associates. A shot gun shell was recovered from the spot.
The incident took place on the north side of Lal Khan’s house in Dakshin Sabpur village of Baga Upazila. The injured are Md. Rezaul Khan (50), Oliul (25) Ferdaus Munshi (20). The injured have been sent to Dhaka Paralympic Hospital for better treatment. Among them, Rezaul Khan’s condition is alarming. It is known that Baga Union Awami League leader and boat marker supporter Md. Rezaul Khan along with other associates went to visit Dilip Master, a sick old boat marker worker nearby, after a yard meeting of Jadurkathi Hindu Para boat marker of the same union yesterday (December 22) around 8:30 pm. When Rezaul Khan and his associates reached the north side of his house around ten o’clock in the night, the miscreants coming from the east stopped the movement of Rezaul Khan’s associates, shot and beat them and injured Rezaul Khan and others.
The injured said that the attack was carried out by 20/22 terrorists including Bhagina Shahabuddin and Ashraf led by his son Baga UP Chairman Mahmud Hasan on the orders of Baufal Upazila Chairman Abdul Motaleb Howlader. Baga police outpost in-charge Imtiaz Ahmed said a shotgun shell was recovered from the spot.
Baufal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sunit Kumar Gayen said, “Investigation is going on in this matter, we have not received any complaint so far, legal action will be taken against the real criminals.”
