Metrorail construction work: Avoid Gulshan from Sunday
Service line relocation activities will start under special arrangements from 8 am on Sunday, January 26.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has advised people to avoid the Gulshan-2 area of ​​Dhaka from Sunday for the service line relocation work of Dhaka MRT Line-5 Northern Route.

This advice was given in a notification sent by Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Route-5 Northern Route) Director Md. Aftab Hossain Khan on Wednesday.The notification said that the service line relocation process will start under special management at Gulshan-2 Metro Station area of ​​the proposed route of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-5) Northern Route project on Sunday, January 26 from 8 am.There is a possibility of traffic congestion on the road towards Gulshan-2 intersection during the service line relocation process.

Therefore, DMTCL has requested the public and transport on this route to take sufficient time and use alternative routes if necessary.Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited has also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to commuters.

The 20-kilometer-long MRT-5 Northern route from Hemayetpur to Bhatara in Savar will have a total of 14 stations from Hemayetpur to Bhatara.Of this, 13.50 kilometers will be underground; six and a half kilometers will be above ground.

The metro line from Hemayetpur to Baliarpur, Bil Amalia and Aminbazar will be above ground.And the Gabtoli, Darus Salam, Mirpur-1, Mirpur-10, Mirpur-14, Kachukhet, Banani, Gulshan-2 and Notun Bazar stations will be underground. Beyond this, the Bhatara station will be above ground.

The project work started on November 4, 2023 in 10 packages. Of this, about 35 percent of the development work of Hemayetpur depot under Package-1 has been completed.The process of inviting tenders for the remaining packages is underway, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited said.
