Many of the beneficiaries say that such floods have never happened in our region. We have no experience dealing with floods. Since the flood, people from all over the country have come to help with dry food and sometimes cooked food, but no one has come to provide medical care so far. All pharmacies in our area are closed. Due to communication problems, I am unable to go anywhere outside for treatment. Most people from children to old age are affected by water borne diseases. Many people are sick due to dry food or food cooked outside. Through this service of yours, life has been saved in people’s minds.
SM Kamrul Hasan Shanto, General Secretary of Bijayanagar Upazila Citizen Forum, said that no one will be able to understand the severity of the flood situation if it is not on the ground. Seeing that people are bringing food from all over the country, we have tried to support the flood victims by providing medical services, essential medicines and some cash support without bringing food.
