Massive gambling going on openly in Trishal

Gambling is going on openly at various points in Trishal Upazila. Due to the increase in open gambling, the local people are protesting but getting no results. Hundreds of people in the area are becoming destitute, and the youth community is being destroyed.

A huge gambling game is going on behind the Saterpara Pran Company of Trishal Sadar Union under the leadership of Bachchu Miao Anarul. In Ward No. 5 of Trishal Municipality, gambling is going on openly next to the butcher shop adjacent to the Trishal Bhatipara Riazul Ulum Madrasa under the leadership of Montu, the joint convener of the Upazila Krishak Dal, and Amirul, the convener of the Trishal Municipality Chhatra Dal. In addition, gambling is going on day and night under the leadership of Mofazzal and Hashim, adjacent to the Eidgah ground, west of the Damer Mor in Dhanikhola Union, and under the leadership of Rashid and Nazrul, adjacent to Arif Company, behind the Magurjora Hajur Mor in Harirampur Union.

When contacted on mobile, Trishal Municipal Chhatra Dal convener Amirul Islam said, “I am not involved in gambling. However, these matters cannot be discussed on mobile. You contact me directly.”

Upazila Krishak Dal joint convener Montu Mia said that gambling is going on in Trishal. If the OC closes all the boards, we will also close the boards.

Bachchu Mia said, “Gambling has been my addiction since childhood, I cannot live without gambling. Everyone knows this.”

Sources said that when the police raided Akram’s house for gambling, Akram abused the police officer concerned in foul language on his mobile phone and publicly humiliated the local watchman Babul at Ragamara Bazar.

In this regard, Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mansur Ahmed said that after receiving a complaint about gambling, three people were arrested in a raid. The operation against gambling is ongoing.
