Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin has said that as part of addressing the challenges of climate change, a list is being prepared to calculate the potential losses of Bangladesh due to climate change. Our main objective is to engage various stakeholders through public-private partnerships and international support in the upcoming COP-28 conference. This will result in a multi-sectoral and pragmatic approach that will provide solutions to the challenges of climate change in Bangladesh.

The environment minister said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting titled ‘The Road to Dubai: Expert Consultation on Thematic Programs of COP-28’ at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Wednesday.

The environment minister said that the thematic issues of COP-28 namely climate, adaptation, finance, food security, agriculture, water, natural resources, energy, industrialization, urbanization, health, women and youth, education, skill development, business, transport, multidimensional responsibility and Bangladesh’s preparedness needs to be precisely identified by discussing relevant issues regarding capacity building etc. As a result, it will be possible to play an effective role in protecting the interests of Bangladesh in the upcoming COP-28 global negotiations.

Shahab Uddin said, operationalizing the loss and damage fund in the most vulnerable developing countries in COP-28 and fixing its “detailed arrangement”; creating the framework of the “Global Goal on Adaptation”. Also, 2025 by developed countries to combat climate change in developing countries. Ensure provision of US$100 billion per year up to: Double adaptation financing.

The meeting chaired by Dr. Kazi Khalikuzzaman Ahmed, UNDP Resident Representative Stefan Leeler, Professor Emeritus, C3ER Dr. Ainun Nishat, Nature and Life Foundation Chairman Mukit Majumdar Babu spoke as guests. Executive Director of Nature Conservation Management Dr. SM Manjurul Hannan Khan presented the main article. Various national and international organizations, university teachers, climate experts, young climate warriors, and civil society representatives addressed the consultation workshop.
