The Rajbari Women and Child Torture Court sentenced 7 people to life imprisonment for the gang rape and murder of a woman. In addition, each has been fined Rs 50,000, in default of which six months rigorous imprisonment has been imposed.

The convicts are Ranju Hossain, son of Omar Ali Pramanik of Habaspur village of Pangsha upazila, Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, son of Ansar Dai, Masud Rana, son of deceased Jasim Sardar, Delwar Hossain Pramanik, son of deceased Gahar Pramanik, Hazrat Ali Ajo, son of saken Sardar, Aftab Uddin, son of Gilgai village. Ashraf and Kushtia Sadar Upazila Amlapara Char’s Gulai Pramanik’s wife Mocha. Joygun Among them, two accused named Ranju Hossain and Ashraf are absconding.
According to the source of the case, the dead body of a woman named Amena Khatun alias Fellow was found in a paddy field of Habaspur Union of Pangsha Upazila on September 28, 2005.
In this regard, the deceased’s brother filed a case at Pangsha Model Police Station as the plaintiff. After the investigation of the case, the police filed a charge sheet in the court accusing seven people of rape and murder.
