The police recovered the body of a newborn from a maize field in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat. Locals found the body of the newborn in a bag in the corn field next to the Barakhata Degree College of that upazila on Monday morning.
Hatibandha Police Station OC (Investigation) Nirmal Chandra Mohant confirmed the matter.
He said, in the morning, the locals found the body of the newborn in a bag in the corn field next to the Barakhata Degree College of the upazila. Later the police went and recovered the body. It is believed that someone dumped the newborn in the corn field near the college in the dark of night. The matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
