Raju Mia (25) of Lalmonirhat has migrated to Saudi Arabia with many dreams in the hope of a company job. Raju Mia was subjected to physical and mental torture by the expatriate broker gang of adam trader Shahinur Islam Shahin and is living an inhumane life in Saudi Arabia as an illegal immigrant. A case has been filed in the learned court against adam traders Shahinur Islam Shahin and Moshiar Rahman in this fraud case.
According to the details of the case and Raju Mia’s family, Raju Mia is the son of Ashraful Haque from a low-income family in the remote rural area of Khuniagach Chaurapara in Khuniagach Union of Sadar Upazila of Lalmonirhat.  Due to his unemployment, Moshiar Rahman Raju Mia, son of Fazlu Dewani of Bhadai Anand Bazar area of neighboring Aditmari upazila, lured him with a job in Saudi Arabia with a passport and visa for 6 lakh taka. Through him, Adam businessman Shahinur Islam Shahin, son of Abu Taleb of Sundrahabi area of Kaliganj upazila of the district, took loans, mortgaged land, took loans from NGOs and banks and gave 5 lakh 75 thousand taka in four installments to the locals.
Later, on July 7, 2024, Adam businessman Shahinur Islam Shahin sent Raju Mia to Saudi Arabia from Dhaka Airport. After 10/15 days, Raju broke down in tears when Raju’s elder brother Ashedul Islam asked about his whereabouts through social media. Adam businessman Shahinur Islam Shahin promised to give him a job in a good company in Saudi Arabia and handed him over to a broker’s gang. Raju Mia is being physically and mentally tortured by the brokers there.  Even without work, with difficulty in staying and eating, Raju Mia is living an inhumane life in Saudi Arabia, claiming that he is an illegal immigrant and living a life of inhumane living in Saudi Arabia, his family claims. In this incident, Raju Mia’s elder brother Ashedul Islam filed a case against Adam traders Shahinur Islam Shahin and Moshiar Rahman in the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Amli Court of Lalmonirhat.
The plaintiff in the case, Ashedul Islam, said, “I have given 575,000 taka to Adam businessman Shaheen through a broker, including loans from banks and NGOs. He will give my younger brother Raju a job in a company in Saudi Arabia. Even after 4/5 months, my brother cannot even eat two meals a day. He is running away and wandering abroad. There have been repeated local arbitration meetings to bring my brother back to the country in a healthy condition. On the contrary, he has threatened us in various ways. Therefore, I have filed a case against Adam traders in the learned court. I hope the court will do justice.
It is worth noting that not only Raju Mia, but also A. Hamid, son of Montaz Ali, and Lal Mia, son of Hossain Ali from the same village, in a low-income family in Kazirhat Baninagar area of Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat, have extorted 10 lakh taka through Adam businessman Shahinur Islam Shahin by promising to give him a job in a good company in Saudi Arabia.”  In Saudi Arabia, the company sold the job to a broker. There, the members of the broker used to physically and mentally torture him in various ways. Later, to save his life, he sent money from home again and returned to the country. When he returned to the country, the creditors pressured him for money and he contacted the businessman Shahinur Islam Shahin, who was in a state of despair. He filed a complaint with the Lalmonirhat Army Camp after he made various excuses to pay the money.
When asked about this, the businessman Shahinur Islam Shahin said, “I have legally sent three people including Raju to Saudi Arabia. Two of them could not stay abroad and came to the country. Now they are demanding money from me after returning to the country. However, Raju is doing well in Saudi Arabia. He is working there. When asked what Raju is doing and where he is, the businessman did not say anything.
