Lalmonirhat Railway Divisional Lands Department has cleared the illegal structures constructed by illegally occupying the railway land in Lalmonirhat. The operation was conducted in Bashundhara area of ​​the city on Thursday.
Divisional Land Officer of Railway Purnendu Dev and Executive Magistrate Taapsee Tabassum Urmi led the drive.
According to the railway authorities, a few years ago the influential businessman Shariful Islam Sharif, claiming to be the leader of Awami League, started a business named Cynthia Trading by occupying the railway land. The businessman was also identified as an illegal occupier in the high court after a case was filed on the matter.
Later, the railway authorities gave him three notices and tried to evict him step by step, but the eviction campaign failed due to political influence. After the last change of government, the Railways has been successful in conducting this campaign.
Purnendu Deb, Divisional Land Property Officer of Lalmonirhat Railway said, Shariful Islam Sharif has been illegally occupying the railway land for a long time and built a structure, which could not be evicted due to political obstacles even after resorting to the court to evict it. But this time the evacuation operation was successful.
