Murderers have attempted to rob Sonali Bank by digging a tunnel in Lalmonirhat.
The incident took place at around 12 midnight on Monday (January 27) at the Borabari Sonali Bank branch in Sadar Upazila. However, the army, police and bank authorities are investigating whether the bank’s money was lost.
Police and locals said that the miscreants tried to enter the bank by digging a tunnel under the back wall of the bank. However, when a class-four employee working in the bank realized the matter and shouted, people around came running. The miscreants fled.
Upon receiving the news, the army and police along with bank officials rushed to the spot. The bank authorities, police and army are investigating to find out whether anything else was lost from the bank, including money.
Barabari Union Parishad Chairman Nazmul Huda Limon said that the bank authorities, police and army are conducting an investigation to find out whether anything including money was lost from the bank.
In this regard, Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nurnabi said that the investigation is underway and detailed information will be provided once the investigation is complete. However, no information about the loss of money has been found so far
