The administration has closed four unauthorized brick kilns at Aditmari in Lalmonirhat. At the same time, a fine of 5 lakh 20 thousand taka has been collected.
On Monday (January 20), Executive Magistrate Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rojatun Jannat raided various areas of the upazila throughout the day.
The brick kilns that have been fined and closed are – One Star Bricks of Purba Dailjor village of Saptibari Union of the upazila (fine of Tk 2 lakh), JR Bricks (Tk 20 thousand), Sun Two Bricks of Paschim Velabari village (Tk 1 lakh) and LS Bricks of Khatapara area (a lakhs of rupees). At the same time, the mobile court has directed to refrain from all activities including brick making and burning of these kilns till further instructions.
Mobile Court Judge Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rojatun Jannat said that among the 8 unions of Aditmari Upazila, except Mahishkhocha and Palashi Union, the remaining 6 have 10 brick kilns. Out of which four brick kilns have no valid documents. A mobile court with police was conducted throughout the day on Monday based on tip-off that bricks were being burnt in brick kilns without valid documents.
In separate raids, four kiln owners were fined Tk 520,000 as the kiln owners failed to show valid documents. At the same time, it has been asked to refrain from all activities including brick making and burning till further instructions.
He also said that strict action will be taken if this instruction is violated.
