A farmer has died of electrocution in Aditmari Upazila of Lalmonirhat. The incident took place on Monday afternoon in Uttarpara village of Bhadai Union of the upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Rezaul Karim Reza (42). He is the son of the late Kabir Uddin of the village.
Police and locals said that Rezaul Karim was irrigating his cornfield by connecting an irrigation pump operated by his house. He tried to lift a wire that had fallen from the irrigation pump. At that time, he accidentally touched the wire and was electrocuted. When his family realized the matter, they rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Aditmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ali Akbar confirmed the truth of the incident.
