In West Haribhanga of Sadar Upazila of Lalmonirhat district, a teacher has been accused of trying to molest a 10-year-old Madrasa student (sexual harassment). Locals claimed that the accused teacher is absconding after the incident.
The incident took place at Darul Ulum Babus Salam Madrasa adjacent to West Haribhanga BNP Colony in Mahendranagar Union of Upazila. It is said that the accused teacher Khairul Alam alias Sohail Rana was working as an assistant teacher in the education department of that madrasa.
Meanwhile, the madrasa committee and the madrasa’s Mohtam Zubair Hossain Saddam covered up the incident and called the father of the victim student to sign the white paper, and the victim’s family complained that they were intimidated. On the other hand, since the entire incident came to light, there has been extreme tension among the locals and it is said that madrasas have been declared a general holiday.
The victim’s father said, “My son was admitted to the Nazira section of Darul Uloom Babus Salam Madrasa last month for the purpose of memorizing the Qur’an.” He used to study from madrasa boarding. Last Sunday night, Khairul Alam told the minor student to change his bed and tried to rape the victim by lying next to the student. After that he threatened not to tell anyone else about this incident.
The victim’s father and his grandmother also said that when Mohtamim Zubair Hussain Saddam of the madrasa was verbally informed about the incident, they tried to cover up the matter. He called us to the madrasa and signed the white paper by threatening us to verify the truth about the matter. The victim’s grandmother alleged that Mohtamim Zubair Hossain threatened the madrasa student by asking him to do a DNA test.
On condition of anonymity, a parent of that madrasa said that after the incident, the accused teacher Khairul Alam alias Sohail Rana has been expelled from the madrasa.
In this regard, Mohtamim Zubair Hussain Saddam of that madrasa claimed the whole incident as a lie and told the media that the accused teacher held the Koran Sharif in his hand and said that I am not involved in this work. Mohtamim Zubair Hussain said that later a settlement was reached with the complainant and they signed the white paper. In response to another question, he also said that if there were allegations of rape against another teacher, we expelled that teacher from the madrasa. Repeatedly in the same madrasa student rape incident why? He could not answer such a question.
In this regard, Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Omar Farooq called on the mobile phone and asked about the incident. He said that if a complaint is received in this incident, necessary action will be taken immediately.
