Lakshmipur District Correspondent: A terrorist attack was carried out on a journalist during the information gathering period led by the reserved female member of Ward No. 7, 8 and 9 of Char Ramoni Mohan No. 20 under Lakshmipur District and currently the Panel Chairman Nayan. The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 26) at 12.30 pm while distributing rice to card-holding fishermen in front of the Union Parishad Information Office of Char Ramoni Mohan No. 20. Earlier, it was learned from the area on Tuesday that each fisherman’s card in Char Ramoni Mohan No. 20 is being exchanged for 2,000 taka. Based on this, when journalists went to collect information at the spot on Wednesday, they saw rice being distributed among the card-holding fishermen. At that time, while the journalists were carrying out their professional duties and interviewing the acting chairman Nayan and the people present, some of the rice victims complained to the jail that they were being given less rice. Later, when they tried to find out the truth, they measured it with a digital machine. According to the measurement, each sack contained 10/12 kg less rice. That is, 40, 45, 48 and 30 kg sacks contained 40, 45, 48 and 24, 25, 26 kg respectively. When asked about the subject, the panel chairman Nayan said that they are outside brokers, don’t believe them. They have jail cards, so why would they be outsiders or brokers? When asked such a question, he did not answer and first snatched the mobile phone from the hands of the district correspondent of the daily Bhorer Khabor newspaper, Farhad Hossain, while the video was live. At one stage, when the district correspondent of the National Daily Present Times, and the National Daily Kaler Chobi newspaper, the editor of the Daily Lakshmipur, Rakib Hossain Sohel, and the correspondent of Bhor Khabar were asked to return their mobile phones, the Nayan terrorist group attacked the journalist and took away two wallets, an Infinix Enduid mobile and a Samsung mobile, cash in the wallet, water and electricity bills, their national ID card and visiting card, 10,800 taka, sixteen taka for their own pocket expenses, and some other valuables. Later, in the presence of AC Land, the two journalists returned two of the journalist’s three mobile phones. But instead of returning the cash and a Samsung mobile in the wallet, their men arrested the journalist and beat him up. By putting pressure on the journalists, they unlocked the mobile and deleted all the information on the mobile phone. At that time, the Daily Present Times and Dainik Kaler Chobi district correspondent, Rakib Hossain Sohel, and the Daily Bhor Khabar district correspondent, Farhad Hossain, were seriously injured. Finally, the police and the Lakshmipur Sadar Land Officer (ACLAND) were called and ACLAND went to the spot and rescued the journalists. However, the mobile phone of the Daily Present Times and Dainik Kaler Chobi district correspondent, and the editor of Dainik Lakshmipur, Rakib Hossain Sohel, along with the mobile phone, were not recovered. However, the relatives of the injured victims’ families claim that the seized mobile phone, wallet, money and the seized mobile phone are urgently needed and urgent. Currently, the injured in the attack are being treated at Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. In this regard, the officer-in-charge of the Sadar Police Station said, “I have heard about the incident. If the journalists file a written complaint with us, legal action will be taken.”
