Lakshmipur District Representative: 10 officials of some districts of Bangladesh Palli Vidyut Samiti were permanently dismissed from service due to various complaints. In protest of this, according to the decision of the Central Committee, the electricity of the concerned district has been temporarily shut down. AHM Ariful Islam of Pallividyut Samity confirmed that if the demands are not met, electricity will not be supplied. Destabilizing the rural electricity sector due to destabilization across the country, the controlling authority showed contempt for the directives of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board and engaged in activities contrary to official discipline, dismissed from employment as per the Employment Rules of the Rural Electricity Association, 1992, revised, 2012. Those permanently expelled from the job are – Dhaka Mo Salah Uddin Assistant General Manager of Palli Vidyut Samiti 2, Monir Hesen Assistant Manager of Netrokona Palli Vidyut Samiti, Mo Rahat Deputy General Manager of Magura Palli Vidyut Samiti, Dhaka Palli Vidyut Samiti 1 Assistant General Manager Abdul Hakim, Senior of Comilla Palli Vidyut Samiti 4 Assistant General Manager Zakir Hossain, Noakhali Palli Vidyut Samiti Wiring Inspector Salam Javed, Barisal Palli Vidyut Samiti General Manager Md. Humayun Kabir, Assistant General Manager of Munshiganj Palli Vidyut Samiti Rajan Kumar Das, Deputy General Manager of Brahmabaria Palli Vidyut Samiti. Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan and Deputy General Manager of Comilla Palli Vidyut Samiti 1 Deepak Kumar Singh.

The official of Lakshmipur District Palli Vidyut Samiti said that 45 thousand officers and employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti provide electricity to about 14 crore people in 80 parts of the country. The dual rule of the Rural Electrification Board has been going on for 47 years. A 2-point demand was made for the implementation of uniform employment rules along with REB-Pobis merger and regularization of all irregular and contractual employees to free them from exploitation, discrimination and oppression. The demand of the chief adviser including the power secretary was called reasonable, but instead of implementing it, 10 of our officials were permanently dismissed from service and one was arrested under the ICT Act. Which has worried us. Therefore, Lakshmipur Palli Vidyut has been shut down for a temporary period since morning as per the decision of the General Manager of the Central Committee of Palli Vidyut Samiti.

Besides, all the goods bought by REB people for Palli Vidyut Samity starting from construction materials are of very low quality. Due to all this, exorbitant bills come. The responsibility is on us. A case has been filed against 10 of our officials because we protested against these. By canceling all the cases of 10 officials who were expelled from the service and re-instating them in the service with honor, our logic was earlier except for the 2-point demand, now if the 1-point demand is not accepted, the electricity will be shut off for an indefinite period.
