A police constable who was on leave in Laksam, Comilla was hacked and injured by a union Secha sebok doler leader. The incident took place on Thursday (April 3) night in Manpal village of Uttarda union of the upazila.
Locals said that Emran Hossain, the Secha sebok doler leader of the village, had put up a banner a few days ago. The banner, which was put up next to the house of Belal member, which was burnt down after August 5, was torn a couple of days ago when children threw stones while playing. That evening, Secha sebok doler leader Emran abused him for tearing the banner. Police constable Saddam Hossain, who was on leave at night, was returning home by torchlight. When Emran saw the torchlight from a distance, he got excited. During the argument, a group of people and local weapons attacked the house of constable Saddam. At that time, the constable was hacked and severely beaten.
Laksam Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdullah Al Masud said that the injured policeman has received four stitches at the cut site. The police and the army have conducted a joint operation in the area. The situation is currently calm. The operation to catch the criminals is ongoing.
