Laksam in stakeholder Mapping Workshop Held for Low-Income Communities

Selim Chowdhury Hira: A stakeholder mapping workshop was held for the communities involved in the project under the ‘People’s Adaptation Plans for Inclusive Climate Smart Cities’ project at the Laksam Municipal Conference Hall on Tuesday (December 3) at 11 am.
Various municipal officials, government officials, NGO representatives, representatives of local youth organizations, teachers, students, journalists and low-income stakeholders participated in it.
To increase the adaptive capacity of low-income communities facing potential losses due to the impact of climate change, Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) organized this workshop with funding from the Global Center on Adaptation and in collaboration with Save the Children.
The main objective of this workshop was to determine the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders involved in the project in implementing the project activities and how they will use their skills for the project.
In the speech of the chief guest, held under the chairmanship of the Municipality Accountant and Acting Municipal Executive Officer Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, the Executive Engineer of the Municipality, Engineer Mohammad Zaker Hossain, said that the master plan of Laksam Municipality has been prepared and a study has been conducted in Laksam Municipality under the Smart City Project. According to the study, there are several development activities planned in Laksam, including the establishment of a bus terminal, separation of hospitals and other waste management, plastic recycling, and development of drainage system. Therefore, these issues will be included while preparing the People’s Adaptation Plan.
Keya Adhikari presented the keynote address of the event.
Also present at the event were journalist representative and office secretary of Laksam Press Club Selim Chowdhury Hira, municipal chief assistant Abu Khair, health officer and department head Dr. Md. Al Imran, assistant engineer (water) Pavitra Bhushan Pal, assistant engineer (civil) Ritesh Chandra Poddar, deputy assistant engineer Dharma Jyoti Chakma, upazila youth development officer Md. Delwar Hossain, upazila women’s affairs officer Manasi Pal, fire service senior station master – Mohammad Kabirul Islam, among others.
