The residence of the first woman Nawab of the subcontinent and a noble woman Nawab Faizunnecha Chowdhurani at Laksam in Comilla has been renovated and inaugurated as a museum. It will be managed under the control of the National Museum under the Ministry of Culture.
Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam was present as the chief guest at the opening ceremony on Monday (November 6).
He said that Sheikh Hasina’s government is determined to preserve the country’s history and heritage, and in continuation of that initiative has been taken to convert Nawab Faizunnecha’s house into a museum. As a result of which people all over the country will know about Nawab Faizunnessa and this museum will enrich the tourism sector of the region.
Under the chairmanship of Director General of National Museum Kamruzzaman and moderated by Prof. Arafat Rahman, special guests were Culture Affairs Ministry Secretary Khalil Ahmad, Comilla District Commissioner Khandaker Muhammad Mushfiqur Rahman, Comilla District Police Superintendent Mr. Abdul Mannan, Laksam Upazila Chairman Advocate Yunus Bhuiya, Laksam Municipality Mayor Prof. Abul Khair. And many others.
