Laksam in Bengali New Year 1432 celebrated with colorful arrangements

Selim Chowdhury Hira, Laksam: Laksam Upazila administration (April 14) celebrated Pahela Baishakh 1432 with colorful arrangements.
On this occasion, a joyous procession, 7-day-long Baisakhi fair, essay competition, painting competition, folk cultural program were held.
On April 13, the 7-day-long Baisakhi fair was inaugurated, essay competition, painting competition were held.
On April 14, Pahela Baishakh, the procession started from the upazila square at 7:30 am amid the sound of national anthem and Baisakhi songs, and circled the main roads of the city. Later, a folk cultural program was held.
The procession, led by Upazila Executive Officer Kausar Hamid, Laksam Police Station Officer-in-Charge Naznin Sultana, Upazila Health Officer Nazia Binte Alam and other government officials, was filled with a joyful atmosphere as heads of various departments, teachers and students of various educational institutions, local journalists and political leaders, and people from all walks of life spontaneously participated in the procession.
In addition, former President of the Press Club Md. Abdul Quddus, former Editor Mujibur Rahman Dulal, current Press Club Chairman Monir Ahmed, Member Secretary Faruk Al-Shahara, President of Laksam Journalists Union Zafar Ahmed, Editor Abdur Rahim, Organizing Secretary Selim Chowdhury Hira and many others were present.
In this colorful procession, the traditional culture and heritage of present-day Bengal were beautifully presented. The participants in the procession carried various banners, festoons and placards, on which were written the greetings and meaningful messages of the Bengali New Year. Many again presented themselves in rural costumes. In addition, the joy of the New Year was spread among everyone through folk dances and traditional decorations. The sounds of dhak-dhol instruments and various folk songs made the atmosphere more lively. This joyful procession has made the arrival of the Bengali New Year even more festive and joyful.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kausar Hamid told reporters, “Pahela Boishakh brings a new hope and enthusiasm in the lives of Bengalis. Today’s colorful procession, folk cultural programs and the spontaneous participation of people from all walks of life in the 7-day long Boishakhi fair are an expression of deep love for our culture and tradition. We are all very happy to celebrate this day together.
