On the occasion of Bengali New Year 1432, on 11th and 12th Baishakh (24th and 25th April), Kumirmara Friends Sporting Club and Library, a traditional social organization of Kumirmara village, organized a two-day Baisakhi Ananda Mela, Horse Racing and Anti-Drug Concert in Ward No. 9 of Pirojpur Municipality.
At the invitation of Md. Alauddin Howlader, convener of the event management committee and vice-president of Pirojpur District Chhatra Dal, Pirojpur District BNP convener Principal Alamgir Hossain was present as the chief guest at the two-day event organized by Kumirmara Friends Sporting Club and Library.
Pirojpur Municipality BNP Member Secretary Md. Sarwar Hossain Howlader, 06 Shariktala Dumritala Union BNP President Md. Hemayet Uddin Bepari, Pirojpur District Volunteer Party Member Secretary Touhidul Islam Touhid, Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Sub Inspector Md. Mazaharul Islam, Ward 9 BNP General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Mallick and leaders of various levels of BNP organs and associate organizations were present as special guests.
The two-day program was presided over by Kumirmara Friends Sporting Club and Library President Md. Al Amin Howlader.
The event was supervised by the Vice President of Kumirmara Friends Sporting Club and Library, Mohammad Mamun Khan, Vice President Mizanur Rahman Matubbar, Joint General Secretary Md. Shahin Fakir, Joint General Secretary Md. Mithu Fakir.
On the first day of the two-day Baisakhi Ananda Mela, the main attraction was the traditional horse racing competition of rural Bengal.
On the second day, the main attraction was the anti-drug concert, in which prominent musician Khairuzzaman Sabuj, President of Satellite Television and Khalid Hasan Milu Foundation, performed music.
In addition, renowned artists from Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Pirojpur performed music.
A special attraction of the event was the attractive dance performance by dancers from Pirojpur District Shilpakala Academy, and Baul music was performed under the leadership of Pirojpur District Baul Dal President Nazrul Islam Dulal.
