The ‘KSRM Awards for Future Architects: Best Undergraduate Thesis’ award has been organized for the sixth time to inspire future architects. Like every year, this time too, three emerging talented architects of the country will be honored. The country’s leading steel industry organization KSRM and the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) have organized it.
On this occasion, KSRM and IAB held a joint press conference at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) auditorium in Agargaon, the capital, on Thursday (April 24).
IAB President Architect Dr. Abu Sayeed M Ahmed spoke at the press conference.
It said that ‘KSRM Awards for Future Architects’ is a prestigious recognition organized by KSRM with the support of IAB. The purpose of this award is to recognize the best visionary projects of undergraduate students of IAB-accredited architecture departments in Bangladesh. A 10-year MoU was signed between KSRM and IAB in 2019. Since then, KSRM has been awarding three emerging architects selected by the jury board every year. Under the agreement, final-year undergraduate students from 15 renowned IAB-accredited architecture educational institutions in the country have participated in this award competition. The top three contestants from each educational institution are participating in the final competition. The top three contestants from the participating students’ projects will be selected by a jury board consisting of five senior architects of the country.
The exhibition of the projects will be inaugurated at the IAB Center on April 27 at 10 am. The four-day exhibition will continue until April 30 at 8 pm. The exhibition will be open to everyone from 10 am to 8 pm every day. However, the IAB Center will officially hand over the awards to the winners through a ceremony on April 26. Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan has agreed to be the chief guest at the event.
The first prize winner of the KSRM Award will receive a cash prize of Tk 1 lakh, the second prize winner Tk 75,000 and the third prize winner Tk 50,000. At the same time, both will be given a crest and a certificate.

Initiated in 2019, this award is given annually to inspire students and departments at the undergraduate level of architecture. Combined with exhibitions and publications, the ‘KSRM Awards for Future Architects’ has become an important medium for presenting talented student projects. KSRM believes that it is not only our responsibility to build world-class infrastructure, but also our responsibility to build dreams. Architecture is not just a profession, it is a vision, a language – architecture in everything. Through which we shape our cities, culture and the needs of the future.
The participating universities in this year’s competition include Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, North South University, American University of Bangladesh (AIUB), BRAC University, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Stamford University Bangladesh, Southeast University, State University of Bangladesh, Leading University, Daffodil International University, University of Asia Pacific, Bangladesh University.
