The mobile court has fined 50 thousand taka to Patherbazar Surgical Clinic and Diagnostic Center of Dighlia upazila of Khulna for various charges including inhuman treatment trade in the name of healthcare. Along with the clinic, the illegal diagnostic center has also been ordered to be closed. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Dighlia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Debanshu Biswas around noon on Monday. Confirming the matter, Dighlia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Debanshu Biswas said that Pather Bazar Surgical Clinic and Diagnostic Center was being operated only with the approval of the clinic. But the diagnostic center was operating there illegally. Also, raids were conducted on Monday afternoon on various charges including not providing proper service to patients and doctors not working despite having signboards with their names. A fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed and the diagnostic center has been ordered to close. Incidentally, due to the indifference or collusion of the administration, even though there is no doctor of its own, boards using the names of multiple doctors are hung in Patherbazar Surgical Clinic and Diagnostic Center. It was alleged that various operations including caesarean section were being performed on the patients at the clinic by hired (on-call) doctors. The employees of that institution do the rest of the work after only performing the surgery with the help of the doctors. However: Sign boards are hung in front of the clinic using the names of several specialist doctors. Most of which doctors do not come to the clinic. Even, managing director cum manager SK Noor Mohammad issued various test reports using doctor’s fake signature and seal. It was also alleged that he treated himself as a doctor. This is how Patherbazar Surgical Clinic and Diagnostic Center has been running for years without paying attention to the government rules and regulations. The Civil Surgeon Office of Khulna did not have that information even though the activities were conducted illegally without taking approval. However, the investigation committee formed against the institution earlier found the truth of the allegations, but only ‘warned’ and did not take any action, wasting time for no reason. Later, after the publication of the report in the media, the local administration launched an operation.
