Metropolitan BNP leaders have complained that massive load shedding has started in the city since the day after the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) elections were over. In a press briefing organized at the party office on KD Ghosh Road in the city on Wednesday afternoon, Khulna Metropolitan BNP Convenor Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mana made the complaint. This press conference was held in front of the party office tomorrow at 3 pm on Friday at 3 pm to protest against widespread corruption in the power sector, as part of the Khulna metropolis BNP central program to make the march program successful and to demand an end to police harassment. Shafiqul Alam Mana said that a simultaneous movement is going on across the country under the leadership of BNP for 10-point demands including elections under a non-partisan government. Although the ongoing democratic peaceful movement is being celebrated peacefully across the country, the program in Khulna is actually creating an anarchic situation by the government’s corrupt police forces by filing absenteeism cases, attacking and unnecessarily harassing the leaders and activists at home. BNP leader Babul Kazi died after being severely injured by overzealous police batons during a peaceful program in Khulna. A light in one eye of Mahanagar BNP senior leader Fakhrul Alam has been extinguished forever. Two workers of the Swachha Sevak party were arrested from the rally and cut off by the police. Last year on May 26, the police administration attacked the ongoing rally in the presence of Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the BNP National Standing Committee. Many people were arrested including BNP member secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin from the party office. The police attacked the peaceful program and the police filed a case in the name of 1,300 BNP leaders and activists. Metropolitan BNP member secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin was present at the press briefing. M. Abdur Rahman, Begum Rehena Isa, Kazi Mahmud Ali, Sher Alam Santu, Chowdhury Shafiqul Islam Hossain etc.
