Joypurhat Correspondent: Today Police have arrested Sadiqul Islam (28), a member of a gang of deep tubewell electric meter thieves in Akkelpur, Joypurhat. A stolen electric meter was recovered in the incident. He was sent to court on Thursday afternoon. Akkelpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mainul Islam confirmed the matter.
The arrested Sadiqul Islam is the son of Sadek Ali Fakir of Asunja Baniagari village in Dupchachia upazila of Bogra.
Akkelpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mainul Islam said that on December 5, 4 electric meters from deep tube wells were stolen from the fields of some villages in Raykali Union of Akkelpur Upazila. The group of thieves left a number on the meter box. When a case was filed at the police station in this incident, the police went to the field to catch the gang of thieves. In continuation of this, a raid was conducted in Gopinathpur area of ​​Akkelpur Upazila last night and Sadiqul, who was involved in it, was arrested. During this, a stolen meter was recovered.
