Former general secretary of Kuakata Press Club in Patuakhali and member of Kalapara Reporters Unity, Zahirul Islam Miron, was hacked to death and left in a suspicious condition in front of his house by miscreants. The incident took place at around 12:30 last night in the area adjacent to Tulatali Filling Station in Kuakata. During this, he was stabbed in both his hands, head and chest and seriously injured. Later, locals rescued Miron and took him to Kalapara Hospital. After primary treatment, the doctor on duty sent him to Barisal. After treatment at Barisal Sevachim Hospital, he was sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment. Meanwhile, all working journalists in the district are protesting against the attempt to kill journalist Miron and are protesting from their respective places on various social media platforms. As journalist Miron was hacked and injured in the dead of night with the intention of killing him, District Reporters Club General Secretary Kazi Mamun and President Matiur Rahman said that they are drawing the attention of the local and district administration to quickly bring the perpetrators of the attack and injury to justice. Although the police immediately visited the scene of the incident, they have not been able to identify anyone so far. Journalist Zahirul Islam Miron is working as the Kuakata representative of Banglavision. He is the general secretary of Kuakata Municipal Jubo Dal.
Mahipur Police Station OC Tariqul Islam said that journalist Zahirul Islam Miron arrived in front of the filling station from Dhaka at around 12:30 am. Later, when he got out of the car and left for home, the miscreants randomly hacked him to death and left him there. An investigation is underway into the incident. The culprits will be found and brought to justice.
