In Rajapur of Jhalkathi, two residences and a kitchen were reduced to ashes due to an electrical short circuit fire. After about three hours, three units of the fire service brought the fire under control.
The fire incident took place in Madhya Manohorpur area of ​​the upazila at around 7 pm on Tuesday (November 12).
The victims are Gautam Sikder (35), son of deceased Nishikant Sikder of that area and Asim Sikder (40), lecturer of Rajapur Baraiya Abdul Malek Degree College, son of Anant Sikder.
Victim Asim Sikder said that the fire started due to electrical short circuit and then it spread to other rooms. Before the arrival of the fire service to control the fire, two houses, goods, necessary documents and documents of the house were completely destroyed. Now I am destitute with nothing left but the clothes I have with me. Two houses were damaged to the tune of Tk 30 to Tk 35 lakh.
A. Khalek, station officer of Rajapur Fire Service, said that the fire started in the residential house through an electrical short circuit. As soon as the fire was reported, we went to the spot. After reaching there it took time to bring the fire under control due to water shortage. Our three units worked to bring the fire under complete control.
