Former councilor of Chapainawabganj Shibganj municipality Khairul Alam Gem (48) was hacked to death by miscreants.
Last Wednesday (April 19) before Iftar, the terrorists launched an ambush at a place called Udayan Mor in the district town. At that time, he was seriously injured by being cut with a sharp weapon and beaten with a rod. Later, the locals admitted him in a critical condition to the 250-bed district hospital, where the in-charge doctor declared him brought dead.
The former councilor of Ward No. 9 of Shibganj municipality, Khairul Alam Gem, was killed in the attack by miscreants. He is the son of Mainul Ahsan Edu Master of Mardana village of Shibganj town area.
According to eyewitness sources, the deceased Khairul Islam was on his way back home after taking Iftar at Gem Udayan intersection, when some miscreants surrounded him and started beating him. After that, he was injured with a sharp knife and beaten with a rod and escaped.
Monira, the medical officer of the emergency department, said that the seriously injured person was taken to the emergency department of the hospital in the evening. Later, he died around 7.00 pm during the first aid. The head and body of the deceased have injury marks of various indigenous weapons. He died of anemia.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Sajjad Hossain said that miscreants have caused this incident. It may be because of previous enmity that this murder happened. 02 people have been detained for questioning. He said that legal action will be taken against them if they are involved in this incident.
